Working With Wood Show 2001

The 2001 Sydney Timber and Working With Wood Show was held at the Fox Studios hall of Industries and Horden Pavilion, Moore Park on the 6th, 7th and 8th of July. The Sydney Woodturners Guild provided a stand to display a comprehensive range of turned items, demonstrated woodturning and answered questions about the craft.

Organisation of the event was in the hands of Southern Region who liaised with the event organisers, designed and constructed the stand at the Oyster Bay Cubby House, transported it to Moore Park, assembled it in the Horden Pavilion and dismantled the display after the show. Other Regions of the Guild provided material for display and members to both demonstrate and answer questions.
Due to other commitments on the final day, Southern region were short handed and members of the Southern Highlands Region arrived to help. They did a magnificent job on what was the busiest day of the show

The Guild display proved to be an outstanding success with a continuous stream of visitors watching demonstrations, admiring the work and discussing woodturning.
A large number of serious enquiries about membership were received and we are looking forward to welcoming new members in the coming weeks.

A lot of work by a lot of people was rewarded by the response to the display. There were no major catastrophies and the few minor hickups that occured were noted to make next years display better still.
