Sydney Working With Wood Show 2008

Well, it has come and gone again!!

The SWWWS was a great weekend, both personally and at a Guild level. We had a good roll-up, lots of people working the lathes and the tables, lots of people talking to us about our craft and our organization.

Both Chris Dunn and Alex Bendelli are due a vote of thanks for their work and organization. For without that work and organization the apparent ease of the show is just impossible to emulate.

The SWWWS is an opportunity for us to display our craft to the general public. An opportunity for us to sell ourselves to other potential members and people interested in exploring woodturning a little more.

And finally, we get a chance to sell a bit of our output to raise a few dollars to buy that new widget we needed.

This year we had two of our members participate and succeed in the SWWWS competition:

Congratulations to both of them. And congratulations to all those who participated in the competition by putting pieces into the show. We need to do more of this, getting every one interested in working towards the goal of submitting one piece to the competition each year.

A great show and one that we should be proud of.

Now let us start planning for 2009 and make that even bigger and better for us.
