Andrew Potocnik began his session with a slide show to explain his approach to design and the evolution of design ideas.

He then turned a bowl and marked it out for carving.

Carving the bowl was undertaken using a powered carving wheel and power sander. After carving, the spiral form was scorched with a blowlamp and textured by wire brushing into the scorched areas.

Andrew explained the use of the tools he used including a thin parting tool made from a kitchen knife.
