Guilio Marcolongo produced two totally distinct items in his session, a lidded box with a scolloped base and a natural edge burl bowl.
The box was turned, wet sanded and finished. The scollops were made using a sanding drum fabricated with a wooden cylinder wrapped with abrasive paper, held in the spindle nose with a turned morse taper. Guilio's technique for cleaning the sanding drum with the sole of his joggers was new to most of the audience.
Guilio explained the tools and techniques he used to produce a natural edge burl bowl.
