Theo Haralampou
Theo has been turning for seven years now and for the last six has been an active member of the Woodturners Society of Queensland Inc (the WSQ).
Theo has fulfilled the role of Technical Editor with the WSQ, reporting on the demonstrations and events in the WSQ's monthly magazine Turning Talk for the past four years. He was the creator of the popular segment "Demo Download" which incorporates photos and cryptic comments on the monthly demonstrations.
Since taking to the woodturning stage, Theo has developed an entertaining and informative demonstrating style, having studied under many of Australia's and the some of the world's best woodturners. He credits his love for coloured chatterwork spinning tops to America's Bonnie Klein. He has also developed techniques of his own for turning bangles, mushrooms, and Xmas trees, coupled with various finishing techniques such as ebonising and buffing. An avid inventor, Theo has developed various inexpensive jigs, and tools, which he is more than happy to share with his audience. Rex Bower, a former President of WSQ gave this critique following one of Theo's demonstrations. "Well prepared, fully equipped, light hearted, informative, fast and fascinating."
